Hi. I'm Street Fighter. I'm also known as maxman from LavaLit and Enso of the Mugen communities. I just come to ask that I have my sprite edits of weapons for my chars for my OpenBor project called, Dragon Duo. It is a Double Dragon type which includes Rage of the Dragons chars. Since ROTD doesn't include weapons like Double Dragon does, I sprite edit weapons for the chars, so it can be (like) Double Dragon.

Here are the pics I sprite edit weapons for the chars. For your information, that bat weapon is Ren Idagawa's from Big Bang Beat. So I sprite edit some and I pick colors with the same colors as the bat. I don't know if I need to improve or they look okay.

Of course. We don't need to use the original BOR anymore. We already have OpenBor which is always updated with fixed builds and improvements of the engine. BOR usually has most of basic stuff, which is easy for coding, but it's too limited coding from doing what you want. But for OpenBor, you are free to make a mod or game whatever you want! It's complex but you need to study the manual in order for yourself to do what you want. But the most complex part though is the script. Script is kinda like "the-computer-writing-like" type thing, to me. Well, as heard, script is similar to C syntax. Script is WAY complex but the only way is to read and understand. That's what I heard from one of the LavaLit members and I get to remember what to do.

Anyway, I work on sprite edits for characters for my mod. Maybe just some. I may be posting some of my sprite edit chars later. But they're not done yet. I still have plenty to do.

Now I'm working on spriting one of the bosses. I introduce to you, Johnny Boy. He's a mafia though. He's claimed to be a murderer of Jimmy's girlfriend.

Hummm... The shading of his coat doesn't quite match that of his other clothes.

The character base (edit) is from Gale (Rock/Goenitz edit). I was changing his face and his cap. I picked some colors from some of the Mugen characters. I edited the colors from blue/red to black, just to make him look darker.

Yeah.. I'm so lazy in shading the coat. That's my problem with shading his coat. I may be better with face/cap, but not his entire outfit. Do I need to change his color tone to make it a little lighter? I honestly like him to be black, but not too much.

I just like his style to be like ROTD or CVS.

And that's exactly where the thing is: while the coat certainly has CvS style shading, the t-shirt and the pants clearly look MotWish.

Also, the part of that goes from the waist to the knees should have a slightly different tone, as the coat is covering that part of the pants from the light source.

Oops. I guess I was a bit lazy in spriting it. It's because I use Ren Idagawa's bat sprites, but I sprited a straight vertical on my own, based on his. BTW it's not a sword, it's a bat. Thanks for your point though. Very Happy

Err... nope. It's a bokken (wooden sword), not a bat. If you want it to actually look like a bat, you have to thicken the tip and then gradually make it thinner as you get to the handle. Wink

You played Big Bang Beat before? 'Cause I never thought of that as a bokken, which is my first time to hear that term. Is it a Japanese term BTW? Haven't played it before. Speaking of that bokken, whatever, that means I make the tip dull, right? Smile

I just realized that Ren Idagawa uses a bokken instead of a bat. I was mistaken in thinking it was a bat. Igniz, thanks for correction. Now I know that he uses a bokken. I can let Billy and Jimmy use it I guess. Never tried a bokken before, but I've seen some actors using it on TV. I can sprite Ren's bokken into a bat I think for a weapon.

I just colored the end of his pants to black fro white. I'm just stuck in spriting the shades for this guy, Johnny Boy.

I don't know if this looks good or not. If not, could you (especially NiO and igniz) show me how he's shaded? You can save it to your computer and sprite it for me. Im not lazy, but I dunno where to shade him maybe in ROTD or CVS style (which they're my favorites of all styles). If I check your sprites for this guy, I'll try to sprite the shading. Which Rock are you using as base, the one from Mark of the Wolves or the one from CvS2?

Ahem.. anyway, you should either change his sprites for those of a CvS2 Rock, or take a look at the shading of a CvS2 Rock's and edit the sprites of your char taking the other one as base.

I already have the CVS2 Rock base for another boss other than this current boss I show. I edit that guy with a green jacket without white stuff along.

But for the guy in black, I just sprited his look in ROTD style, based on Billy and Jimmy's, except the coat which I haven't been shading. I want him in a darker outfit, not in KOF style.

I'll try to look him up for shading. I have CVS2 Rock. I can take a look at his coat for shading JB's coat.
