King of Fighters 20x2 - A project for the UFGE engine (0.8 BETA RELEASED!)

A year back, I made a fangame for the UFGE engine called King of Fighters 20xx. It was a parody/tribute to the fighting games that I loved playing in the arcades. I posted about it on the old boards. It can be downloaded here - http://maximoff.alreadyread.net/kowtf/

I decided to expand on it with characters I didn't get to, and eventually it became a sequel. So far it's still a work in progress.

There will be more of a focus on edited characters. Appropriate, since Nio invited me to the old boards because of some of my edits. One of my main goals was to use as many of the old Misamu characters I could. So far I have completed Micheal Max, Ray Mcdougal and redid Hwa Jai so he resembles his KOF 13 version. This is in addition to using Cool Choi, Smart Chang, and Fio Germi.

I have also used other peoples edits (getting permission when I could) such as a KOF style Sakura, Poison, and Makoto Mizoguchi.

This also gives me a way to make fun of some of the weird things in the history of fighting games. Things such as Capcom suing Data East because of Fighters History, the covtroversy about Poison, and other trends and weird things.

I'm at the point where I'm starting to edit some really good characters. I just edited Misamu's version of Duke into the main character from Bad Dudes.

Isso também me dá um jeito de tirar sarro de algumas das coisas estranhas na história dos jogos de luta. Coisas como a Capcom processando Data East of Fighters, porque História, o covtroversy sobre Poison e outras tendências e coisas estranhas.

Eu estou no ponto onde eu estou começando a editar alguns personagens realmente bom. Eu Misamu versão editada apenas de Duke para o personagem principal de Bad Dudes.





I have some good ones coming up and I'll make the sprite sheets I create open source.

It's not really my engine. Fenix, the guy who programmed it pretty much stopped programming because of real life. I just make characters and games for it.

His name isnt Bad Dude.
Its Blade or (P2) Striker..

I know, but I always called him "Bad Dude" because that name actually captures the campiness of the old 80's movies based off of. One of the main reasons I wanted to put him in is because I was playing a lot of Data East arcade games, and they really captured the feel of those movies.

Great update! Gum looks so CVS-ish to my eyes. Also, I love the edit of Hayabusa from the PIM Saizo base. Morshu has similar attacks as Robotnik but I understand he's a Cheng base. Just like he throws bombs like Robotnik does, they look equal. But the final part of the Morshu video was a blast. He held his "launcher" at his opponent and this is when I got to know the difference with the hyper. Great job, friend.

i saw on the your site (if you are reading this) i think i know a member for team greed the Merchant from RE4 and for the black warriors team do you remember in double dragon the green guy who used the same style as billy and jimmy ?
for sega revenge squad team the altered beast guy (please put the one in blue not the pink guy)
for anti sakazaki the big guy from aof3 wygar wigor whatever
for the double dragons the idea is not the best i was thinking of kenshiro XD or maybe a Final fight character
the wrestle team how about scorpion from slam masters even if he is from capcom lol

i said for the shadow warriors about that green guy that used billy and jimmy style even trough i think he could be used on the DD team as well i thimk his name is Jeff
i remember he was in DD 1 on the NES as the boss of stage 2 Very Happy

Yes, I know you're talking about Jeff who has the style from Billy and Jimmy. But I don't know who would team up with the Double Dragon. Who would that be? We'll just wait for gmspectre to return when he has updates. I'm looking forward to play Willy. If not, it would be okay. Wink

No. Jeff is the boss in stage 2 of the Double Dragon in the arcade system. But, Chin is the boss in the NES.

I've been a bit busy lately, however I noticed some real interesting talk in this thread...

This is actually a pretty awesome idea. The only problem is that I haven't played that game yet, but a quick trip to the used video game store at my flea market can fix that. That said, from looking up that character, I can see some potential based for an edit, with a weapon based moveset, and maybe some stuff from the MvC games.

I remember Jeff from the arcade game. They always for lazy on most of the home ports and just made him a recolored Billy Lee w/o the head swap Smile. I probably won't make him, since I used all my ideas for that style of character on Billy Lee (based on arcade and NES Double Dragon 1 and 2) and Jimmy Lee (based on NES Double Dragon 3). More on that later in this post.

I was considering him, but I really need to figure out how to make a bunch of animal edits. If I made him, I would use his transformation morphs as special and super moves. It would make sense, because before Sonic, Altered Beast was the pack in cartridge for the Sega Genesis in America.

Since there were some suggestions made, I may as well make a small spoiler on who I am planning and thinking about...

The Chizuru Kagura Backup Plan

Chizuru plans to stop the Orochi with a plan similar to KOF 1997, but since the Orochi have taken control of Iori Yagami, she teams with Kyo and makes another clone that plays like KOF 1994/1995.

Team Greed

As before, RE4 assassian is being considered. Also for consideration is Earthquake from SvC, and Jack Turner from AOF (I wanted to experiment with the SNES AOF sprites which are similar in size to the KOF sprites).

The Double Dragons
Created: Billy Lee, Jimmy Lee
WIP: ?????
Characters under consideration are Kunio from the Kunio games, Mr K from the American version- Renegade, Chin Seimei or Ranzou from NES Double Dragon 3, or Marian based on the Neo Geo game.

The Black Warriors
Created: Linda, Abobo

Characters under consideration are Lopar and Williams, who I already have sprites made of from my abandoned Beats of Rage project, Chin Seimei from NES Double Dragon, or Burnov from Double Dragon 2/Neo Geo. As for Machine Gun Willy, I considered him at the start of the project, but just wasn't interested in making him.

The anti-Sakazaki team
Created: Mr Unknown, Kasumi Todo
WIP: Lee Pai Long
I already had this planned out. I liked the character in AOF and really wanted to use the NGBC sprites.

SNK Wrestle Festival
Created: Raiden, Red Dragon

Ideally, I want to see if I can make Muscle Power from a sprite edit of Tizoc. The problem would be the head and lack of certain moves. He would fit in since he based on Hulk Hogan, and the other 2 are based on real pro wrestlers as well (Vader and Great Muta). If . The Scorpion is a possibility as well, and a good suggestion. I want to think this one out a bit more.

Sega Revenge Squad
Created: Gum, Segata Sanshiro
WIP: ?????
As said before Altered Beast is a possibility, Shinobi was considered but would probably have been like Ryu Hayabusa, so I straed away from that idea. Space Harrier would be considered as well but I'm not sure how to go about editing him or what moves to give him.

Clone Zero is a character I really wanted to make, even more so after I learned that he was based on a character from Fist of the North Star (making him a bootleg like K9999)
